Summer Special 2011: Blue King Brown

I had the opportunity to chat with Natalie Pa’apa’a of Blue King Brown at Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest on Friday night. They are an Urban Roots band from Australia. It was nice to chat with an international band and have a good insight on other kinds music not in North America.
My experience of seeing them live was quite a surprise because I didn’t expect an energetic crowd. Kudos to the Bluesfest organizers for bringing an exciting band.
Afterwards, I rushed over to The Hard Rock Stage to see Hey Rosetta and unfortunately, the rain came and I only got to see the band play three songs. I had to go to the Canadian War Museum to get dried up. The sad part, I didn’t know Hey Rosetta resumed playing. Such a shame on my part.
Aside from that, you can listen to the interview with Natalie Pa’apa’a of Blue King Brown and the July 16th radio show summer edition.
Then there are photos I used from the iPod touch.

The Blue King Brown Interview

2010 Summer Special

It’s this time of year where I sporadically post entries during the Summer. I had the opportunity to go for more Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest dates compared to last year. I was able to do audio interviews with several artists. It will be provided here. Overall, I was excited to see some of the performing acts. Worse part was enduring the heat.

The Ottawa Folk Festival Edition (Posted on August 18, 2010)

You can listen to the August 18th edition of the radio show. Aside from the top 10 countdown and Arcade Fire songs, there were interviews from Rolf Klausener of The Acorn, Aidan Knight, Jill Zmud, & Jim Bryson.
Press play to listen.

Apparently, I am taking part in this blog rally challenge, check the blog link out by clicking here. If you like my entry on Ottawa Bluesfest or the radio show, just comment away. Finished on July 26th.

Don’t forget to check out as it will be the only blog to be updated weekly during the Summer. I have been mentioning Arcade Fire over on the other blog.

A Reminder to Check My Summer Page and a Bluesfest Entry [Summer Entry]

Note: Off-season entry.

With Casey of Elliott Brood

I want to remind people that this blog on a Summer hiatus, I created a Summer page for what I have done lately. Here’s the link again,
I was able to renew my Flickr account to Pro as I am able to keep providing photos for future entries.

Canada Day – July 1

On Canada Day, I was where the “smaller musical acts preforming at Major’s Hill” for the first part of the afternoon. Quote taken from Apt613.
In case if anyone doesn’t know about the Summer page, I posted a link to my Canada Day photos,

Ottawa Bluesfest Time (for Week 1)

Several Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest photos are up. (Bluesfest in the Byward for July 9, 2009), (Arrested Development). Photo from above was after Elliott Brood’s late night concert at Pier 21. It was a rowdy, romp and sweaty performance. The crowd danced and jumped like crazy and I decided to join in the fun later on. Overall, an excellent performance from Elliott Brood and the opening act, The Soiree (I forgot to mention the band opening up). I was surprised to see people I met from other concerts in Ottawa.
Before checking Arrested Development, I did check out the end of The Proclaimers at Bluesfest in the Byward and yes, I did hear I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles). Yes, I remember the word, “I would walk 500 miles”.
Loads of photos from Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest consisting of The Balconies, Sunparlour Players, Land of Talk, Jenn Grant and Thunderheist. Taken on July 12, 2009. In a way, the only band repping from the 613 that I checked out were The Balconies (not covered on Apt613). I missed out on other Ottawa bands playing at Bluesfest.
There’s Ohbijou at Zaphod Beeblebrox as part of Bluesfest in the Byward.
Basia Bulat at Mavericks on July 13, 2009 (Last day of Bluesfest in the Byward):

Happy Summer to all.
