Happy Birthday and New Shoes – S09E26

WildWorks Feb 20 Vinyl

It’s this day that I share a birthday with Rihanna and the late Kurt Cobain plus a few social media friends. February 20th is my birthday and it’s just a normal day and nothing major to celebrate. I know as we get older in age, parents would try to buy presents but they would give money instead. I decided to treat myself in getting new shoes and I have been eyeing them for quite awhile. I know it’s six months late in getting them but I had the chance to get the stylish Hudson’s Bay and Converse Jack Purcell shoes. The shoe came a day before my birthday and it was my early birthday present.
What I love about this shoe is that it’s based on the Hudson’s Bay iconic colours and it’s very wooly. Add to the leather on top of the shoe as it’s shaped like a duck. I know some friends are jealous with the shoe I got and would be willing to steal it off from my feet. I know I will be noticed when I wear them in the Spring.
I posted photos from below. Hope you will enjoy it.

Another splurge was ordering an Impossible film called Cyanograph SX-70. I’m curious when I shoot this film as it will be monochrome blue and it will be quite a challenge. That will be my late birthday present.

Lastly, I’m totally enjoying CBC‘s coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi. If you noticed that I’ve been tweeting a lot during the Primetime edition of the Sochi Olympics on CBC. Their iOS app is used as a second screen. Actually, there’s two people I know who’s working on the digital side for CBC’s coverage. To my own amusement, my tweet was posted on Storify. It’s all in good fun and just happy that the Olympic coverage is back on CBC.

Wish me a happy birthday!

Ottawa Fashion Week A/W 2012 on The Final Day and Oh Yes! It’s My Birthday – S07E27

It was the final day of Ottawa Fashion Week’s Autumn/Winter edition and I did not expect to attend but it was due to some luck and also a fun opportunity to see people again. Afterall, it was great to see the usual photographers at the photo pit and there were a few new joiners to the ruckus and humorous crowd of the photographers. Due to my own bungling, I forgot to get the program guide for Sunday’s OFW event. There were some new designers appearing at OFW from the likes of Loft 604. The Sunday lineup also had Ella Peru, Helmer, & Symbiose by Hinda A.
The highlight of the night was the Runway for a Better Way as it was a charity to support UNICEF Canada. Celebrities from Elizabeth Manley, Lianne Liang, Gabrielle Miller (Corner Gas), singer/actress Cory Lee, social media/blogger Casie Stewart, Erica Wark and etc. The photos are be posted below.
It was nice to have a bit of CKCU-FM connection (aside from Jewne on Fundamentally Sound) at OFW as one of the photographers is on Carleton University’s Journalism program, Midweek. Her is blog is called Always On.

Uh-oh! It’s My Birthday
Being that it’s February 20th and it’s also Family Day in Ontario. That’s right, it’s my birthday today and it’s nice that friends are posting their birthday greetings on my Facebook wall. I would be put in tears to read through them. I know it sounds sentimental.
Another thing to drive me crazy is my iPhone ringing off the hook from the Facebook notifications.
What will I be doing on the special day? Not very much to say the least and being that certain places are closed for Family Day, it will be a relaxing day.
Here’s a photographer friend who took this shot of me at OFW.

Birthday Fun – S04E15

Group Shot at Bruce Pit
It was my birthday on Friday, February 20. All I can say that I had an enjoyable time because there were some friends coming over. There was pizza and candies hovering around the house. My bro’s friends played Rock Band 2 and it was a great time. One of his friends decided to sing the attrocious song by System of a Down (my opinion). I had a total laugh because the way he sang and how much I forgot about that band. The next day, I needed some rest and relaxation because the effects of playing Rock Band 2 was bad. I was feeling so dizzy that it wasn’t funny.
On Sunday, I went along with my bro to Bruce Pit for tobogganing/sledding. Before that, my bro’s friends needed to walk the dogs. It was astonishing to see alot of people walking their dogs. All in all, it was cute to see some dogs around. Onto the sledding part, I couldn’t believe that it is not as fun when I was young because walking up the hill was grueling. I had snow all over me and I was out of breath from walking up. I took a couple of runs down the hill and the first time, I had snow all over my face. There were some comedic moments when I slid down. Afterward, it was lunch at East Side Mario’s and luckily, no pie in the face after the birthday song that they usually do.
In a way, I totally enjoyed the events from the weekend. Hopefully I won’t be sore the next day because the sledding took a lot of energy.
